IT'S A WAR!

Sometime over the last couple of months six pounds snuck up behind me and jumped on.  I've worked so hard to keep off the weight I took off after my gall bladder episode and surgery, and I have been successful....The a week in Turlock getting my hearing aids, a week in Tahoe, just having fun and then since my stupid fall, and no YMCA time, I let down my guard, didn't see it coming till it was planted firmly on my hips!

It's a WAR, I tell you.  We battle things everyday.  Weight, Finances, depression, over-worked, under-paid, health issues, and the list goes on and on.

My dearest gets the opportunity to preach once in a while now that he's retired, but he's always working on a "sermon."  Retirement didn't take away the fire in his belly to preach so he studies and prepares.  As we've been discussing the daily battles in life, he told me he's working on a new sermon called "WAR" dealing with the daily battles in our lives.  Can't wait to hear it.

So, this morning with my Armor on (Eph. 6:10-18) and the Sword of the Lord in my hand, I will, with his help, win today's battle.  I needed to get back to my "old" routine of eating, and only enjoy the "treats" on the weekend.  It worked for almost a year...I know it will work again.  So be warned you "lousy six pounds"  you are on your way OUT!!!  If I win the battle today, I will be stronger for the battle tomorrow.

What are you battling today in the War called life?

  1. Same battle...it's been a good couple of weeks for me though.
Back at the gym, eating healthier again.
Easier to do during summers when we are both home.
Less fast food...less eating out in general...smaller portions...healthy snacks.

    Yup...it's a WAR

    Blessings to you and yours.

    In Him,
    Grace

  4. I haven't had the courage to step on the scales for a month! But my clothes still fit me so I'm hoping for the best.
Moth is always in the middle of a sermon too -- or reading up for one. My ladies all returned for Bible Study and one or two new ones too. We had taken the month of June off.
We had a sprinkle of rain today! What a surprise. Did you get it too? The monsoonal flow is tipping over the mountains down here.

    1. Chris... I was not weighing either, because like you, the clothes still seemed to fit OK..When you get 7 to 10 extra pounds...the clothes begin to show it...it like the 10 pound rule..don't go past it, unless you have really baggy clothes, HaHa.

Once a preacher, always a preacher..I really love that about my husband.

We had a couple of sprinkles, but lots of muggy humidity.

  5. Yup, Weight is definitely an issue. I have lost a few pounds but is so much of a war.
I would love to hear Don's sermon.
Lots of mini wars too, like patience and procrastination.
Did you get my prayer request on FB private message? I sent it this morning. Would appreciate prayer. Thanks.

I know what puts it on....just hate to admit it...walking by the mixed nuts, and stopping to visit...that mouth full of cookie dough, making a batch, larger portions of this and that...."Little things mean a Lot" HaHa...I won the battle yesterday, and was down a pound this morning...OK I'm motivated.

  7. Dearest Wanda, first let me thank you for the sweet and kind and powerful words you shared with me yesterday. Your prayers are deeply appreciated... more than I can say. Second, your beautiful note cards arrived and they just make me smile... especially your note. ;) Third, I'm ready to hear that sermon... it is a war, isn't it?

I'm also battling six sneaky pounds. We can war that battle together. Funny how easy they are to gain... how hard to lose. blessings ~ tanna

    1. OK Tanna....I covenant with you to lose our six pounds...In fact, I was down today by just being on track yesteray...Why is saying "NO" to things you know are going to add pounds so hard?
So glad you got the cards...Now enjoy them..and use them, HaHa. Sending love and hugs

  8. C'mon, it's just 6 lbs. You deserve the extra helping! Skip the gym today, it's too hot. We are all too obsessed with the scales. Mmm....sour cream enchilades. Temtation is everywhere and not everyone wears the uniform of the enemy. The devil's advocate.

  9. Hi, I came over to visit from Tanna's blog after I saw those wonderful notecards of yours. I am in a Beth Moore study with 25 gals from my church, which helps us battle any stronghold we face.

  12. Stopping over from Tanna's. Love the notecards! I'm not sure it's a battle, but I am working hard on rehab after spinal surgery last month. I start physical therapy and am giving it all I have to make a good recovery.
