GIRLY ~ GIRL

The proof is in the "Picture"...  I was born with straight hair!  But every picture of me as a little girl I have curls.

I remember asking my mom when I was in High School, when my hair went straight, as ALL the pictures of me as a child, I have curly hair.  She starting laughing, and said from the time I could talk I wanted my hair curled.  So she did.  Rollers, pin curls, perms..whatever it took to make this little redhead happy.

Besides curls, I loved dresses and ruffles and again...several pictures of me show fancy dresses.  Notice how I'm holding the skirt so you can get the full picture, HaHa.

Well, those of you who know me personally, can confirm, I'm still a "Girly Girl" and have curly hair (perms) and still love my ruffles and lace. Never go anywhere without my lipstick!!!  Somethings you just don't outgrow!!!

How about you...a girly girl, or a tomboy?

  1. Oh, I was a tomboy! haha...I climbed trees, had earthworms and caterpillars as pets (some spun cocoons in my bedroom!), dirt under my nails..and I'd sneak and rub soap on my neck instead of taking a bath. lol. That lasted until I was about 13...then the girly girl came and stayed!

You were such a cutie! I just love that picture and your big smile. Just adorable! And isn't that how it always is? Straight haired girls want curls and curly haired girls want straight!

I'm trying to picture you climing those trees and playing with worms...HaHa..love your bath time HaHa Soap on the neck..at least you smelled clean!!!

    1. We need both to make the World go round, don't we? Out of my 11 grandchildren only 3 are girls, and only one I would consider "Curly"..HaHa

  3. Looks just like Monique in a black and white picture!
I was a tomboy, but now a little of both. My girls are the same - loving to make colosseums in the dirt for potato worms, riding four wheelers with their brothers, catching bugs and playing with dead chickens, yet graceful at ballet, have their hair done first thing in the morning, and they enjoy the beautiful things in life. So, I get to enjoy both!

    1. I have to agree, I have seen me in Monique since she was little. The older she gets, I think it even more!! Don't know if she likes that, but I see it in many ways.

I'm so glad your girls get to do both...how special is that!

  4. I guess I am more of a girly girl. My hair was always straight and boy did I hate the perms when I was young. Talk about stinky and really hard on the hair too.

    1. Oh my goodness....I do remember the smell of "Toni" perms...Ugg! But I wanted curls so bad I put up with the smell. My dad would stay in the back yard till we were done....haha

  5. I'm another straight haired girl like you. Unlike you I hated when my mom would curl my hair...since it was an exercise in futility. It would go straight in 15 minutes anyway. Fortunately when I became a teenager straight hair was very in style! :-)

    1. I was reminded that there was one time that I wore straight hair. In the 70's it was very popular to have long straight hair...it lasted only a few months before I couldn't stand it, and got a perm....HaHa Straight hair is still in style..

  6. Your mother must have loved having a girly girl! I guess I'm a basics girly girl. Most always wear skirts but have foregone makeup and now cut my own hair (and for all our family).

  7. Oh GG~I look at that picture, and I see Monique!...However, I also see beautiful Jill :) I know she may not outwardly express it much, but Monique has a certain appreciation for "taking after grandma", and I think in several ways, it makes her feel special.
I was always both, being able to work on the farm, now with the chickens, cows, wherever they put me basically haha...but Oh how I love to get dressed up, and my makeup on!
I've always gotten so many complements on how I do my makeup :)
