BACK HOME

This lovely Hydrangea has a story to tell.  Given to me in April 2009  after surgery it's blooms were dark blue and I planted it beside the house.  Evidently, it was the wrong place and it completely died down twice...I was ready to toss it when I decided to try once more...moved it to the other side of the yard and planted it in a large cement pot I had....well, it likes it's new home.  This is what I found when we got back from vacation!!!  Now her new look is pink blooms!

We spent the night in Bakersfield with Don's cousin and her "Donut" peach tree was so heavy with fruit, two limbs broke.

So sad to see the limbs breaking...but what a crop of peaches it's producing.  That San Joaquin Valley produces a lot of food and fruit.

Donut peaches look like someone "squashed" them, but oh how sweet that white meat is.  Can't wait to have them sliced over ice cream.  Perfect timing for our Father's Day BBQ tomorrow.
It's really good to be home!

  1. Beautiful hydrangea. Perhaps we should have moved some of our 'dead' hydrangeas around before tossing them!

    1. Susan, if it hadn't had been a gift at a special time, I probably tossed it the fist time it "died". So glad I didn't.

  2. Peaches are my absolutely favorite fruit. I so look forward to peach season. As for your hydrangeas, I have heard, but I'm no authority, that the colors they produce depends on the type of soil in which they are planted. Alkaline as opposed to acid, I think.

I sure hope my hydrangeas do as well as yours! When I was down in NM to help with my friends wedding I brought back a carload of plants back- Lowes had all their clearance plants for 50 Cents and 2 of the plants are hydrangeas! Love those flowers!

    1. Tonight I sliced the peaches...three slices in the bowl, one in my mouth, etc. etc. etc. I read your lazy day post, but didn't have time to comment. Slicing peaches, preparing my Chicken Thighs for the Crockpot...and the beat goes on...

  5. your beautiful flower blossomed to welcome you home, I suppose if you put a bit of lime in the pot it would turn blue again.

  6. Now my mouth is watering. Those peaches look so good.
I don't think we will have many peaches this year which makes me sad.
Don't think it will be quite so hot today and we are having a Father's Day BBQ here with a lot of Daughter in law's family. It should be fun.
Son has to go do the photo shoot for the Luis Palau Festival taking place at Cal Expo, Sacramento after dinner. So far over 40,000 have attended the first night of the festival. That was in the 105F heat yesterday!
Glad you made it home and doesn't it feel good?
Love your flowers too. Different soil makes the different colors.
    Love ya
